| Q_CODE: Starting October 1st., 1999, the new versions of all SERP Accuracy programs must be used. For Q_CODE, this is version 3.3 or 3.4, which were shipped to all licensees beginning in May, 1999. The new SERP rules apply particularly to the calculation of accuracy based on ALL records, and not just the urban portion. For rural records ('0' in the second position of the Postal Code), ANY address data is considered correct, as long as the Postal Code itself is a valid one. For urban LVR (Large volume receivers, having their own unique Postal Codes), ANY address data is considered correct as long at the Postal Code is a valid LVR code. Because of this, a "valid" record (for the above reasons) may not, in fact, be correctable in the traditional sense, nor may they be standardized in content. CPC therefore advises mailers not to correct these records, but does allow for correction if desired. Q_CODE contains the logic for both of these requirements, but the default is NOT to correct either scenario during batch processing. Interactivley, and on user calls to the API, correction will be applied, with "flags" to allow the user to choose whether to correct or not. |
